GIFT Nifty Opening Update

GIFT Nifty opened today at 23,176.50. It is up 55.00 points (0.24%) from yesterday’s close of 23,203.00— so the trend is positive.

Indian stocks may open higher but could see volatility on Monday due to mixed global signals, as investors monitor the ongoing US–Iran conflict, now in its third week, impacting global oil markets. Asian markets showed mixed results as US stocks dipped last week, fueled by worries about global oil supply disruptions from the ongoing Middle East conflict. “Indian markets are set to start the week on a positive note, with GIFT Nifty at 23,351, suggesting a steady opening for domestic equities. Geopolitical shifts in West Asia and crude oil price changes will heavily shape market direction this week. Signs of de-escalation could ease global equities, while further escalation may pressure markets,” noted Hariprasad K.

On Friday, Indian stocks fell sharply as concerns over rising US–Iran tensions dampened sentiment. Sensex fell 1,470.50 points (1.93%) to 74,563.92; Nifty 50 dropped 488.05 points (2.06%) to 23,151.10. With the US-Iran war unfolding, these stocks will be in the spotlight on Monday, March 16, 2026 —
