GIFT Nifty Opening Update
GIFT Nifty opened today at 24,370.00. It is up 86.00 points (0.35%) from yesterday’s close of 24,249.50— so the trend is positive.
Following encouraging signals from international markets, the Sensex and Nifty, two Indian indices, are expected to open on a bullish note on Thursday. With a premium of more than 97 points over the previous closing of Nifty futures, Gift Nifty was trading close to 24,346, indicating a possible gap-up opening for the Indian stock market indices. “Indian equity markets are currently trading in a cautious recovery phase, supported by a notable improvement in global sentiment. Renewed optimism surrounding the progress in restarting U.S.–Iran negotiations has helped ease immediate geopolitical concerns, thereby enhancing overall risk appetite. Brent crude oil prices have moderated and are consolidating in the range of $94–95 per barrel, which is a constructive development for the domestic market,” said Ponmudi R.
The Indian stock market closed Wednesday’s session 1.5% higher, with the Nifty 50 rising 389 points, or 1.63%, to close at 24,231.30 and the Sensex rising 1,264 points, or 1.64%, to conclude at 78,111.24. On Thursday, April 16, 2026, these equities are probably going to stay in the spotlight due to the US-Iran war negotiations.
