GIFT Nifty Opening Update

GIFT Nifty opened today at 24,302.50. It is up 91.00 points (0.37%) from yesterday’s close of 24,286.00— so the trend is positive.

Indian equity markets concluded the week with a sense of caution, furthering their recent correction as high crude oil prices, increasing global bond yields, and ongoing geopolitical uncertainty weighed on investor sentiment. Volatility persisted at elevated levels, as benchmark indices attempted a recovery throughout the week, ultimately concluding Friday’s session with minimal change. Investors remained vigilant, closely observing global risk factors. For the week, the Nifty experienced a decline of approximately 0.47%, concluding at 24,252, while the Sensex fell by nearly 0.60%, finishing at 77,540.83. Meanwhile, the broader market exhibited a degree of resilience, as the SmallCap index increased by approximately 1.2%, while the MidCap index experienced a slight decline.

On Monday, the market is expected to commence on an upward trajectory, as indicated by the Gift Nifty index, which suggests a favourable opening. Gift Nifty was trading near the 24,329.50 mark, reflecting an increase of over 43.50 points from the previous close of Nifty futures. “Indian equity markets are set to begin the week on a cautious footing as persistent Middle East tensions and elevated crude oil prices continue to temper risk appetite. Crude prices remain firm, with WTI trading near $86 a barrel as markets brace for fresh U.S. sanctions against Iran amid an already prolonged geopolitical standoff. Early indications from GIFT Nifty futures, trading in the 24,300–24,350 range against the Nifty’s previous close of 24,252, suggest a largely flat to marginally positive start for domestic equities,” said Ponmudi R.

As the market indicates a favourable opening, certain stocks are expected to attract attention on Monday owing to their individual positive or negative catalysts.
