GIFT Nifty Opening Update
GIFT Nifty opened today at 24,499.00. It is up 172.00 points (0.70%) from yesterday’s close of 24,448.00— so the trend is positive.
On Friday, the Indian stock market concluded the trading session in positive territory, with the benchmark Nifty 50 finishing below the 24,400 mark. The Sensex gained 166.49 points, or 0.21%, to settle at 78,094.64, while the Nifty 50 advanced 66.45 points, or 0.27%, to finish at 24,383.60. However, the market is likely to open on a higher note as trends in the Gift Nifty index signalled a positive start on Monday, 3 August. Gift Nifty was positioned around the 24,580 level, reflecting an increase of more than 200 points from the prior closing of Nifty futures. However, the market is likely to open on a higher note as trends in the Gift Nifty index signalled a positive start on Monday, 3 August. Gift Nifty was trading near the 24,580 mark, up over 200 points from the previous close of Nifty futures. “Indian equity markets are poised for a cautiously positive start, with investor sentiment improving after U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that negotiations with Iran are expected to resume on Monday, reviving hopes of a diplomatic resolution following recent military tensions. Reflecting improved risk appetite, GIFT Nifty is indicating a gap-up opening at around 24,580, nearly 200 points above the previous close, signalling that the recent recovery in domestic equities could continue in today’s session,” said Ponmudi R.
As the market indicates a favourable opening, certain stocks are expected to attract attention on Monday owing to their individual positive or negative catalysts.
Equities to Monitor:
- IREDA, SBI Funds Management, Torrent Power, Ather Energy, Nazara Technologies, and DOMS Industries shares are set to attract attention as these companies announce their Q1 results for 2026 today.
- ITC reported a standalone net profit of Rs 3,578.8 crore for the June quarter, reflecting a 27.1% decrease from Rs 4,912 crore recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year. Standalone revenue declined by 14.4% year-on-year, amounting to Rs 16,908 crore, down from Rs 19,761 crore.
- Maruti Suzuki reported mixed standalone results for the June quarter, as a better-than-expected net profit was overshadowed by weaker operating performance amid margin pressure despite healthy revenue growth. Standalone net profit was Rs 3,352 crore for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, reflecting a decline of 10.8% compared to Rs 3,758 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.
- Indian Oil Corporation reported a standalone net loss of Rs 2,661.3 crore for the quarter ended June.
- Sun Pharma reported a 27% year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 2,895 crore in the first quarter, up from Rs 2,279 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.
- Persistent Systems reported a 9% quarter-on-quarter decline in consolidated net profit for the first quarter of FY27.
- ZED – Market regulator Sebi has imposed a ban on ZEEL, along with Managing Director Punit Goenka and Chairman Emeritus Subhash Chandra, from participating in the securities market. This action follows the discovery that the company’s land in Hyderabad was used as collateral for loans secured by entities of the Essel Group, without obtaining the necessary corporate approvals.
- Bharat Electronics – The defence PSU announced that it has obtained new orders amounting to Rs 847 crore since July 13. The contracts encompass electro-optics, a security operations centre, seekers, components, spares, and associated services.
- NCC secured three new orders valued at Rs 1,052.71 crore in July. Of the total, projects valued at Rs 590.38 crore were awarded to its buildings division, while contracts worth Rs 462.33 crore were secured by the water division.
- Powerica has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam for the establishment of a 100 MW wind power project in Gujarat. The project will provide electricity at a rate of Rs 3.435 per kWh under a 25-year contract.
- Lupin has secured approval under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act for its Diazepam Injection USP, 10 mg/2 mL (5 mg/mL), which is offered in single-dose prefilled syringes.
