GIFT Nifty Opening Update
GIFT Nifty opened today at 24,420.50. It is down -49.00 points (-0.20%) from yesterday’s close of 24,471.00— so the trend is negative.
The Indian stock market persisted in its downward trajectory on Wednesday, with the Nifty 50 concluding at 24,435, reflecting a decrease of 35 points, or 0.15%. The weakness emerged against a backdrop of heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, a renewed increase in crude oil prices, and selling pressure affecting Tata Group stocks. The market is poised for a negative opening, as indicated by trends in the Gift Nifty index on Thursday, 13 August. Gift Nifty was positioned around the 24,446.5 level, reflecting a decline of more than 24 points from the prior closing of Nifty futures.
“Indian equity markets are expected to open on a cautious note, with GIFT Nifty futures hovering just above the 24,400 mark compared with the Nifty’s previous close of 24,435, pointing to a muted start despite a rebound across global markets. Elevated crude oil prices, driven by the continuing US-Iran standoff over the Strait of Hormuz, remain the primary overhang for domestic equities and are likely to keep investor sentiment measured,” said Ponmudi R.
As the market indicates a negative opening, certain stocks are expected to attract attention on Thursday owing to their individual positive or negative catalysts.
