GIFT Nifty Opening Update

GIFT Nifty opened today at 23,631.00. It is up 707.00 points (3.06%) from yesterday’s close of 23,137.50— so the trend is positive.

The Sensex and Nifty 50, two key indices for India, are anticipated to begin Wednesday’s session on a strong note, following a worldwide market surge sparked by the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran. With the index trading close to 23,840—roughly 689 points above the previous close of Nifty futures—indicators from Gift Nifty also indicate to a gap-up opening for local markets. “Indian markets are set for a strong gap-up opening, with Gift Nifty rebounding sharply to the 23,800 zone after a weak overnight trend. The shift reflects a decisive improvement in global risk sentiment following a temporary de-escalation in West Asia tensions. Volatility is likely to ease in today’s session. India VIX, which closed near 24.7, may see further cooling as fear unwinds, leading to some moderation in option premiums and improved trading conditions,” said Hariprasad K.

Indian stocks continued to rise on Tuesday for the fourth day in a row, with the Nifty 50 closing over the 23,100 mark. The Nifty 50 increased 155.40 points, or 0.68%, to close at 23,123.65, while the Sensex increased 509.73 points, or 0.69%, to close at 74,616.58. On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, these equities are probably going to stay in the spotlight due to the US-Iran war ceasefire agreement.
